Reinventing and living
I thought it would be a good idea to start by telling some of my own story, including the path that led me to start this project. I am Alejandro Morales, founder and CEO of Alphalex.
After several years working in sales, first in advertising and then as a sales manager in an automotive engineering firm with my family, I realized that I felt unfulfilled. I was earning money, but I was not contributing anything back to this world.
I began to feel frustrated. I thought about my experiences as a freelance Spanish teacher during my years abroad – I really enjoyed doing that job, and I loved the feeling of helping and accompanying others to overcome the complicated language situations I had experienced before. Then came the big dilemma: Should I stay in my comfortable job or should I extend myself and seek fulfillment?
Five years ago, an unexpected health-related event forced me to stop and finally consider my answer to this question. I had to undergo a complicated operation on my back, and while I was in recovery, I had time to think. Nothing happens by chance!
When I was finally recovered, I decided to take a direct exit from the comfort zone and enter the world of entrepreneurship on my own. Full of uncertainty, but also excited for a new kind of satisfaction.
I started with my own research, especially in the field of language coaching, neuroscience, and cognitive grammar. I practiced what I learned, and then set out on the creation of the Alphalex project. It combines my passion for teaching Spanish, my research into brain function during language acquisition and my experience in the business world. All with the idea of helping those who need it, which is no more and no less the essence of who I am. Because I have not changed who I am, I have only changed the way I am and the way I am in this world. That is reinventing myself!
